Dust Allergy

What is it?

A dust allergy is the body's over-reaction to a substance in the droppings of dust mites.

Nasty as it sounds, these tiny particles float around in the air and eventually we inhale them. If you are sensitive to these allergens, your body will start producing histamine as a form of defence, and with that comes a combination of irritations.

The symptoms are similar to hay fever and include sneezing, itchy, watery eyes and a stuffy or runny nose. The main difference is that unlike pollen, dust mites are with us all year round. Fortunately, there are lots of treatments available to keep the enemy at bay.
