Pet Allery

What is it?

A pet allergy is an over-sensitivity to the dander (hair and skin cells) and saliva of certain animals.

When you come into contact with these allergens, your body reacts by producing histamine, which can cause you to sneeze, wheeze and itch. Raised skin or a red rash are also quite common, as well as a tickly throat and watery eyes.

Whether you keep pets or not, it's highly likely that you'll come into contact with animal dander from time to time. You might notice your symptoms getting worse during spring when the molting season starts or during winter when the windows tend to stay shut for months on end. But with the right treatment, you won't have to beat a retreat every time you see one of our furry friends.
