USE AS DIRECTED

Here are some frequently asked questions with answers from the makers of BENADRYL®.

What are the differences between hay fever symptoms and coronavirus symptoms?

If you are concerned that you may have coronavirus, please contact the NHS 111 coronavirus service.

When pollen levels are high throughout the United Kingdom, people may wonder if they are experiencing hay fever or coronavirus symptoms.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • High temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • New, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Most people with coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms.

People with allergies can experience lots of symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose (nasal congestion), or itchy, watery eyes. Allergies don’t usually cause a fever and are not usually accompanied by a new or continuous cough, or loss or change to sense of smell or taste. Click here for more information about common allergy symptoms.

How can I get BENADRYL® for my allergies if I’m trying to avoid going to the shop or pharmacy?

Unfortunately, we are unable to sell our products directly to consumers online at this time. However, some online retailers may be able to deliver BENADRYL® directly to your home. Please visit where to buy for more information.

Can consumers with allergic rhinitis continue to use their allergy treatments during COVID-19 outbreak?

Consumers can continue to use their allergy medications (to treat their allergy symptoms) as advised by their doctor or pharmacist. Consumers should speak to their healthcare professional for the best advice on the appropriate treatment for their allergies.

Can our allergy brands be used to relieve symptoms of COVID-19?

No. BENADRYL® products are only indicated to treat allergy symptoms, they are not symptomatic treatments for infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
